Senate Armed Forces Committee

Function

The Armed Services Committee determines how money given to the committee is distributed. The heads of the committee have to take into consideration what policies of the armed forces the committee will follow. The policies they follow affect what money goes where. They are responsible for making sure decisions that have already been made are being enforced, and if they believe a new policy should be followed, they need to create new bill proposals to bring to the House of Representatives and Senate to be voted on.

Purpose

This committee was created to overlook Congress's decisions dealing with the armed forces. They need to have professional knowledge about the armed forces so they can discuss and debate conflicts that come up in Congress. Congress relies on the committee to deliver information before a situation is voted on.
